Training for the speech-language pathologists begins prior to the arrival of the campers and continues throughout the camp experience. Training includes lecture, discussion, small group problem solving and practice of speech modification and counseling skills.
Learning objectives include:
- Apply evidenced based therapy strategies to assist school-age youth in increasing fluency of speech;
- Utilize counseling skills in order to assist school-age youth in talking openly about feelings and attitudes related to stuttering;
- Collect pre- and post-treatment data for progress in motor, affective, social, and cognitive domains related to the stuttering problem; and,
- Educate parents and others regarding progress across motor, affective, social, and cognitive domains.
